North Westside Jacksonville shooting leaves man dead

Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office investigators said both men were taken to area hospitals and are expected to be OK.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Two men went to Jacksonville hospitals with gunshot wounds after being shot inside a car along Moncrief Road West late Sunday night, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO).

A JSO spokesperson said officers responded to a person shot in the 4200 block of Moncrief Road West around 11:45 p.m. Sunday. 

Officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to his back. He was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 

Minutes later, a second man arrived at a local hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his back.

The JSO spokesperson said the initial investigation shows both men were riding in a car in the 4200 block of Moncrief Rd. W. when two to three unknown suspects opened fire, hitting the car and both men. The suspects then ran away.
