A CONGRESSMAN has slammed the United States Postal Service after being told he wouldn’t receive mail for a “crap” reason.
Representative Clay Higgins threatened the USPS for refusing to deliver his packages.
In a social media post, the congressman blasted the Postal Service, showing his followers his door-less mailbox and the letter he received from the USPS.
“If they’re doing this to me, on my street, in Lafayette — what are they doing to country folk?” he questioned in the video.
“For you to say you’re just not going to deliver our mail because my mailbox is faulty. That’s what you’re saying?”
“Let me tell you what I am going to do. I’m doing to drive some deep deep investigations into this kinda crap,” he added.
He captioned the video “USPS is in for an awakening…”
The post has over 285,000 views, 16,000 likes, and nearly 1,500 comments.
Social media users have mixed feelings on the congressman’s viral rant.
Several X users said Higgins should be focusing on bigger problems.
“With all due respect, if the USPS delivered mail to that mailbox and the mail blew away and/or got saturated or if a packaged was damaged, the USPS can be accountable. Fight a better fight and repair your mailbox,” commented one X user.
“This is not the hill to die on. You have bigger issues to tackle,” echoed another.
But other X users said they sympathize with the congressman.
“The post office has many delivery policies that make no sense,” tweeted one user.
“They will put a letter on your mailbox to tell you they couldn’t deliver your mail because the box was blocked. A USPS letter instead of just sticking your mail in the box.”
Still, the congressman said he would not be letting this issue go.
Avoiding mail theft
To prevent mail theft, the United States Postal Inspection Service (USPIS) recommends residents take several precautions.
- First, avoid letting mail sit in your mailbox—inspect it daily and remove it promptly.
- For package deliveries, track shipments on the USPS website and sign up for email or text alerts to stay informed.
- If you’re not home when your mail is scheduled to arrive, consider asking a trusted neighbor to pick it up for you.
- For longer absences, you can have your mail held at the Post Office by requesting this service online.
- If valuable mail such as checks doesn’t arrive, immediately reach out to the issuing agency.
- It’s also crucial to update your address with the Post Office and any businesses you regularly correspond with to avoid potential issues.
- Lastly, for outgoing mail, it’s safer to hand it directly to your letter carrier or deposit it inside your local Post Office for added security.

“Listen to me post office. It’s not like you’re doing very well,” he said.
“It’s not like America is very happy with you right now.”
The congressman said he may or may not be putting a door on his mailbox in the future.
However, he did tell his followers on X that he will be driving some “deep” investigations into the Postal Service.
Congressman Clay Higgins represents Louisiana’s 3rd District in the US House of Representatives.
“He has been recognized as a champion for smaller government, lower taxes, secure borders, and individual freedoms,” according to his website.
He has lived in Lafayette, Louisiana with his wife, Becca, for the last five years.
The congressman did not immediately reply to The U.S. Sun’s request for comment.
