Former MSNBC host Medhi Hasan called for more plane crashes in America… then claimed he was a victim of Islamophobia after being condemned.
The British-American journalist took to X Sunday night and wrote: ‘Make American Planes Crash Again.’
Hours before, a crash at Georgia’s Covington Airport resulted in two fatalities. Additionally, on Monday afternoon, a Delta Flight crash-landed upside-down in Toronto due to high-wind conditions.
Investigations are ongoing to determine the causes behind recent aviation accidents, such as the American Airlines-Black Hawk crash over DC, which tragically claimed 67 lives. Similar inquiries are being conducted for crashes in Philadelphia, resulting in seven deaths, and in Alaska, leading to 10 fatalities.
These recent incidents, including the tragic events of September 11, 2001, have left a profound impact on the American public. Many social media users expressed outrage over Hasan’s comments in posts shared on X.
Hasan, 45, responded by quickly deleting the post, and publishing an unapologetic explanation.
In it, he called the original post ‘sarcastic’ and fumed that it was stoking Islamophobia against him.
He further claimed conservatives were clipping the five-word tweet and taking it out of context, despite it coming in response to the Georgia crash.
Among those to take issue with his comments was Asra Nomani, a former Wall Street Journal reporter who is Muslim and has written for The Washington Post and NY Times.
Speaking to DailyMail.com, she slammed Hasan for playing the victim and says he knew exactly what he was doing when he called for plane crashes.

Former MSNBC host Mehdi Hasan has caused backlash after appearing to celebrate – and welcome – the recent series of aviation accidents occurring in the US. Hasan – seen here on his old show – left MSNBC in January of last year

The British-American, now-independent journalist, wrote Sunday night: ‘Make American Planes Crash Again’ – a tweet he later said was sarcastic
‘When [Hasan] published the five words, “Make American Planes Crash Again,” I can assure the world, he knew the audience he was seeking to wound a nation that saw two planes crash into the WTC on Sept. 11, 2001, and just saw innocents die in the Potomac River,’ she said Tuesday, after penning a stern rebuke on social media.
‘He also knew the audience he was seeking to stoke when he callously deleted his words as ‘sarcastic’ and played the victim,’ said Nomani, who is the author of Woke Army: The Red-Green Alliance That Is Destroying America’s Freedom.
‘[H]is one million followers include many wound collectors in the Islamist and far-leftist communities, who he has cultivated to use “Islamophobia” as a shield, as he now laughably does.’
Nomani, an Indian-American writer, added: ‘What you must know: Mehdi Hasan is a decade in the making in our great United States.’
‘America let in his malign foreign influence and gave him a stage at @MSNBC to spew his propaganda,’ she continued, after Hasan limited replies on the follow-up posted Monday night.

When met with criticism, Hasan, 45, responded by quickly deleting the social post, before publishing the above unapologetic explanation

Among those to take issue with the old host of the Mehdi Hasan Show’s comments was Asra Nomani, a former Wall Street Journal correspondent who and has written for The Washington Post and New York Times who slammed it as mere ‘propaganda’

Feds are still looking into what caused the American Airlines-Black Hawk crash over DC that claimed 67 lives last month – leading social media users like Nomani to scrutinize Hasan’s comments

On Monday afternoon – just before Hasan deleted his tweet – a Delta Flight crash-landed upside-down in Toronto amid some high-octane windy weather. None were killed
Earlier this week, Hasan clashed with Vice President JD Vance after accusing the White House of hypocrisy over its stance on freedom of speech.
Vance blasted a conference of European security leaders for taking an authoritarian stance on free speech in what he said was a misguided bid to curb ‘misinformation’ and hate speech.
Hasan then questioned why Donald Trump had banned Associated Press journalists from the White House ‘pool’ that covers the president after they refused to refer to the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America.
Vance branded Hasan a ‘dummy.’
