A Nebraska woman is in custody after police say she held a 60-year-old man captive and assaulted him, including stabbing him in the forehead with a soldering iron.
Lisa Beverly, 49, was arrested by Lincoln Police Department officers on Feb. 14 after they responded to multiple 911 calls about a man reportedly yelling for help from an apartment in Lincoln, Nebraska. According to court documents obtained by KLKN, a local ABC affiliate, dispatchers received one call at about 7 a.m. that morning about two people fighting in one of the apartments. The caller reportedly told dispatchers that a male voice yelled “Help me!” while banging on a wall. Police stated that upon arrival, they could hear a male voice screaming, “Help!” and “Let me out!” and telling them to knock the door down.
According to the arrest affidavit, police entered the apartment after Beverly opened the locked door. They reported that the bedroom was in “complete disarray” and that the man inside was bleeding from multiple head wounds. KOLN, a local CBS affiliate, reported that when police spoke to the man, he told them that he and Beverly were having an argument after she accused him of dating her friend. He then accused her of stabbing him in the forehead with a soldering iron and assaulting him with a coffee pot and a laptop.
Officers located all three items and noted in the affidavit that the laptop was damaged and had blood on it. The man was taken to the hospital and treated for four puncture wounds.
Beverly was arrested at the scene and booked into the Lancaster County Jail. She was charged with second-degree assault, use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony, and false imprisonment. She remains in custody on $200,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on March 13.
