New unverified footage has emerged of Australian prisoner of war Oscar Jenkins appearing to receive medical testing from his Russian captors.

The 32-year-old former teacher from Melbourne was filmed having his blood pressure checked while seated in front of the Russian flag.

He seemed frail and was quiet during the examination as the Russian soldiers spoke among themselves in the background.

The undated, 85-second video was shared on X by user Chan Han Choi, whose name is also attached to a YouTube channel that posted a second video update of Jenkins.

“My name is Oscar Jenkins. I’m 32 years old. I come from Australia, I’m Australian,” he said in the video posted online.

Jenkins said he felt weak and had lost a lot of weight.

His arm also remains broken.

“I would like more freedom,” he added.

“But you’re alive,” the man filming said.

Jenkins was seen for the first time since he was feared dead in an unverified video filmed by a man behind the camera on January 17.

He became a prisoner of war after he was filmed being captured by Russian soldiers in December after leaving Australia to fight for Ukraine.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese this morning said he is seeking the verification of the two unverified videos of Jenkins.

“We seek verification of them but we continue to say to Russia that Mr Jenkins, as a prisoner of war, is entitled to the law being observed and we will hold them to account for that,” he said.

“But we’ve also called for Russia to release Mr Jenkins so that he may return home to his family.

“I raised this issue, as well, directly with President Zelenskyy when I spoke to him a fortnight ago.”

Foreign Minister Penny Wong earlier this month refused to answer questions about negotiating a prisoner swap with the Kremlin to guarantee Jenkins’ safe release.

“Our job is to maximise our support for Mr Jenkins, to reach out to his family and to maximise the likelihood of him returning home,” she said in a doorstop interview on February 3.

“I have no intention of engaging in a public discussion about that unless it’s helpful to him and, at this stage, it’s not.”

The Russian government has insisted Jenkins is alive and in custody while the Australian government has repeatedly stressed that he is entitled to protections under international humanitarian law.
