WORRIES over Barack and Michelle Obama’s marriage have reached “fever pitch” and their A-list friends could be forced to pick sides.
Concerns about a possible split have intensified in recent weeks after Michelle missed high-profile public events and the ex-president shared awkward-looking snaps on social media.
Insiders told Radar Online speculation has reached “fever pitch” levels as neither Obama nor Michelle has squashed the talk.
Unnamed sources pointed out how a potential breakup could leave the couple’s A-list friends in an awkward situation.
The Obamas have been together for more than 30 years and are known to have friends in Hollywood.
Film legend Tyler Perry is close with both Obamas while Ellen Degeneres is known to be a good friend of Michelle’s.
Barack, meanwhile, considers Bruce Springsteen and George Clooney to be “authentic” pals, Radar Online reported.
Some of the couple’s high-profile friends would be able to preserve a relationship, but others might not be able to.
“The part that gets tricky is if the hypothetical split becomes acrimonious,” Radar Online’s source said.
“Nobody wants to get on either of the Obamas’ enemies list – but you can’t rule out the possibility of that happening.
“All of their Hollywood pals are very much in wait-and-see mode.”
Some even apparently think the Obamas need to shut down the rumors publicly and find it “suspicious” that they haven’t yet.
“It’s making their famous friends in Hollywood nervous,” the source said.
The Obamas have not directly addressed the speculation.
It comes after Jennifer Aniston was forced to shut down claims she had a secret romance with Obama, 63.
The rumors persisted even after Friends actress Aniston addressed the talk.
During a sit-down interview on Jimmy Kimmel that aired last October, she was shown a magazine cover with the headline: The Truth about Jen and Barack.
Aniston emphatically denied any involvement with Obama, adding she’s met the ex-president once.
“I know Michelle more than him,” she said at the time.
PHOTOS FUEL CONCERN
Chatter around the Obamas’ relationship picked up after he recently shared two snaps of himself with Michelle.
Marking her birthday in January, Obama shared a picture of the duo in a wine cellar.
Obama was wearing black trousers and a gray shirt, while Michelle showcased a black dress and patterned headpiece.
But social media users noted the pair were seated far apart in the picture.
And it inspired some to ask questions about their marriage.
Social media was sent into another frenzy when Obama shared a photo marking Valentine’s Day last week.
“Thirty-two years together and you still take my breath away,” he captioned a post of himself beaming with Michelle.
Michelle shared the same picture on her Instagram feed.
“If there’s one person I can always count on, it’s you,” she captioned the picture.
“You’re my rock. Always have been. Always will be. Happy Valentine’s Day, honey!”
Obama liked the Instagram post.
Supporters praised the couple, while others encouraged them not to call time on their relationship.
MISSING MICHELLE
The biggest red flag for onlookers was Michelle skipping several high-profile events, leaving her husband to attend them alone.
She didn’t go to Donald Trump’s inauguration on January 20 – despite all of the other ex-First Ladies attending.
And, no reason was given regarding her absence.
“Former President Barack Obama is confirmed to attend the 60th Inaugural Ceremonies. Former First Lady Michelle Obama will not attend the upcoming inauguration,” her office said at the time.
The Obamas attended Trump’s first inauguration in January 2017.
Michelle was also a noticeable absentee at Jimmy Carter’s funeral held last month.
Once again, all other living first ladies were at the service held at Washington’s National Cathedral.
Obama was pictured locked in conversation with Donald Trump as he sat next to George W. Bush’s wife, Laura.
And during the 2024 election campaign, Barack and Michelle were not seen on the trail.
The duo shared a warm embrace at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago in August, but did not campaign with Kamala Harris together.
Michelle campaigned alongside Harris at a rally in Kalamazoo, Michigan, on October 26 – just weeks before Election Day.
Two days prior, Obama stumped with Harris in Clarkston, Georgia – located around 18 miles from Atlanta.
