Cricket superstar Chris Gayle has found himself embroiled in another incident with a woman – but the outcome was vastly different this time.

Gayle, 45, was recently in New Zealand taking part in a celebrity Blackclash T20 match when he was told by local radio personality Bree Tomasel it was time for ‘Kiss Cam.’

The Aussie born comedian seized her moment after planting a cheeky kiss on Gayle’s cheek, much to the amusement of the crowd in Christchurch.

It was a very different story in 2016, when Gayle became a villain in many people’s eyes following a now infamous exchange with Aussie presenter Mel McLaughlin during a BBL match.

The West Indies batting great – on the books of the Melbourne Renegades at the time – openly flirted with the glamorous TV presenter, suggesting they go have a drink together after the interview.

He then infamously stated ‘don’t blush baby’ as McLaughlin looked visibly embarrassed in the live cross as she asked Gayle about his innings.

Gayle later apologised, labelling the comments ‘a simple joke’ – but was still fined $10,000.

‘A lot of things have flared up from a simple comment, a joke, a simple joke on air and it seemed to go way out of proportion,’ Gayle said at the time.

‘There wasn’t anything at all meant to be disrespectful or offensive to Mel….and if she felt that way, I’m really sorry for that.

‘It was a simple joke. Entertainment, but these things do happen.

‘There wasn’t any harm done, I’ll leave it at that. I’m sorry for that, we have to move on.’

Fast forward almost a decade and many pointed to ‘double standard’ on social media after watching the exchange between Gayle and Tomasel.

‘What if this went the other way around,’ asked one fan after viewing the TikTok clip, which has amassed almost 20,000 views.

A second posted in response: ‘Bro blushed baby.’

A third weighed in with: ‘If he did that, they would throw the key away.’
