Kelly Ripa Accuses Mark Consuelos Of “Not Listening” To Her And “Drifting Off” On ‘Live’

Mark Consuelos can’t fool Kelly Ripa!

During Wednesday’s episode of Live with Kelly and Mark, Consuelos was caught daydreaming by his wife and co-host after getting engrossed in an intriguing story published in the New York Post. The article referenced an interview with Dr. Stuart Hameroff, an anesthesiologist and professor, which piqued Consuelos’ interest.

“Spike in the end of life brain activity could be evidence of the soul leaving the body, experts say,” he read aloud. “A flair of energy in the brain in a dying patient who had ‘no blood pressure’ or ‘heart rate’ could be evidence of the ‘soul leaving the body.’”

The two co-hosts were stunned by the study’s findings, as Consuelos continued reading that a “burst of activity called gamma synchrony— a type of brain wave pattern linked to conscious thought, awareness, and perception — was picked up on the EEG and sometimes lasts ’30 to 90 seconds’ before it’s gone when the patient is already clinically dead.”

Ripa, who agreed that the study was “wild,” was eventually reminded of her and Consuelos’ dog Chewie, who died at 17 years old earlier this month.

“Right before Chewie took her final breath, she got, like, a little burst of energy. Do you remember?” she recalled, as Consuelos blankly gazed at her. “And we were like, ‘Oh my gosh, everything’s going to be okay.’ There was a moment where we really thought — I was like okay, whatever she was going through for the past few weeks, it’s over now. But it was just like a… I think it was that. It was exactly that. She got this burst of energy, maybe.”

As Consuelos continued staring at Ripa, she was prompted to ask, “Why are you looking at me?”

Consuelos replied, “No, I just think it’s a cool concept.”

However, Ripa called his bluff, firing back, “I think you just drifted off and started thinking about something else.”

“Because I’ve been married to you long enough to know when you are not listening to me… you’ve moved on, and I’m trying to think about what it is you could possibly be thinking about right now,” she added.

Though Consuelos teased that his daze had to do with his lunch order, Ripa reiterated, “Do you understand that I know him so well that I was like, he’s not even listening!”

After Consuelos claimed with a giggle that he “was totally listening,” Ripa fired back, “Then you had a weird look on your face!”
