GEORGE Clooney has been slammed after unleashing a back-handed dig at President Donald Trump in a recent late-night appearance.
Viewers begged the Democratic actor, 63, to stay out of politics after his snide remarks on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Tuesday night.
Clooney first admitted he wasn’t happy with the results of the 2024 presidential election after he voted for Democratic candidate Kamala Harris.
However, he said his hands were tied about the loss.
“Well, I don’t know, what am I supposed to do? Storm the f**king Capitol?” he said, referencing the insurrection on January 6, 2021.
He then shared a message directly to Trump in a shocking moment.
“Good for you,” he said without saying the president’s name.
“I hope you do well because our country needs it, and we will meet you in three and a half years and see where we go next.”
Trump supporters shared their distaste with the remarks on social media.
“George stay out of politics,” one viewer wrote on X.
“You know opinions are like a**holes everyone has one, especially big money like you!”
Another ripped, “George Clooney is a fraud.”
“If you believe a word of this scum bag, seek help,” the user wrote, adding that he “joined Obama in taking out Biden.”
Clooney penned an op-ed last summer begging former President Joe Biden to step down from the race because he said he couldn’t win the “race against time.”
After Clooney’s call for Biden to drop out, Trump slammed him as a “fake movie actor.”
“So now fake movie actor George Clooney, who never came close to making a great movie, is getting into the act,” Trump posted on Truth Social in July.
“He’s turned on Crooked Joe like the rats they both are.
“What does Clooney know about anything??”
He added, “Clooney should get out of politics and go back to television. Movies never really worked for him!!!”
Clooney has acted in a number of successful films including Gravity and Ocean’s Eleven.
He’s been nominated eight times for an Academy Award and won two, one for acting and one for producing.
‘PART OF DEMOCRACY’
On Tuesday, Clooney told Colbert he voted for Harris after he was “raised a Democrat in Kentucky.”
“It has been nothing but fun,” he joked.
He said the first time he cast his ballot was when he voted for Jimmy Carter in 1980, who lost to Ronald Reagan.
“I’ve lost a lot of elections,” he confessed with a laugh.
“I lost with some Bushes and I won with some Clintons and Obamas,” he said, adding, “This is democracy.”
He said while he was disappointed in the election results, dealing with winning or losing is part of the democratic process.
“It’s part of democracy,” he said.
“There are people who agree and disagree, and most of us still like each other.
“We’re all gonna get through it.”
Clooney’s political jab comes after another actor, Tom Hanks, sparked backlash for his portrayal of a Trump supporter on Saturday Night Live.
