Undercover police and other security staff have been deployed at one of Adelaide’s largest schools in response to a series of threatening emails.

Parents at Glenunga International High School were told about the emails, and Police Commissioner Grant Stevens confirmed the threats.

“We can’t disclose the nature of the threats. But there are several emails received by the school of concern. Some include threats,” he said.

Parents have told 9News that undercover police and security guards have been at the school for at least four weeks, since the very first day of the year, patrolling hallways outside of classrooms and the perimeter of the school.

In a statement, the education department said the situation is evolving and being continuously monitored, and that the safety of staff and students at the school is actively being prioritised.

Glenunga International is South Australia’s largest and top-performing public school with more than 2000 students on campus.
