The person who was trapped was the driver of a septic vehicle that had an RV on top of it after the crash.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department (JFRD) released video on Wednesday of its response to a crash involving a recreational vehicle (RV) and septic vehicle that happened last week on Feb. 13.

The crash happened on Interstate 295 just south of the Dunn Avenue exit, as both directions on the interstate in the area experienced heavy traffic for hours while firefighters worked to clear the scene.

A JFRD spokesperson told First Coast News one person was trapped after the crash. That person was rescued by JFRD firefighters and sent to a local hospital in serious condition; the fire department’s video shows them being rescued. Another person involved in the crash was sent to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to JFRD.

The crash prompted a “technical rescue team response along with the hazmat team,” JFRD said in the video.

The RV is seen resting on top of the septic vehicle after the crash in the video, as JFRD said the person who was trapped, was the driver of the septic vehicle. The driver is a man, who can be seen wearing an oxygen mask while firefighters assist getting him out.

“On top of all that, the pump-off vehicle (septic vehicle) was leaking its contents which required the hazmat team and city BIO to respond,” JFRD said in the video. “Multiple crews were called for to put plan A, plan B, and plan C in motion should they be needed. Strong command presence and tremendous training gave this driver a fighting chance for a full recovery.”
