JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A Jacksonville pediatric infectious disease doctor has stepped down from the OneJax board after he reshared anti-Zionist statements criticizing Israel on social media.

Dr. Mobeen Rathore works for UF Health, and according to its website, is also the chief of infectious diseases and immunology for Wolfson Children’s Hospital.

OneJax is a nonprofit organization that “promotes diversity as a foundation for a strong community” and “promotes respect and understanding among people from different backgrounds, faiths, races, cultures and identities,” according to its website. The CEO of OneJax says Rathore has agreed to step down from its board effective immediately.

First Coast News reached out to Rathore multiple times with no response.

A UF Health spokesman said in a statement that comments reposted on social media do not reflect the core values of the organization: “Language that is intolerant or inflammatory, against any person or group, is unacceptable, and we condemn all messages that may be considered threatening to any members of our staff or the community. UF Health’s social media policy is clear and prohibits the use of the organization’s accounts for this type of language, but the comments posted were done so on a private account.”

Baptist Health says, “Personal opinions or beliefs of community providers who practice at our hospitals are not reflective of those of our organization,” and added that they do not employ Rathore.
