WEBER CITY, Va. (WJHL) — Weber City Police Chief Donald Harding said two officers were reportedly assaulted Friday night during a traffic stop and arrest.

A social media post by Chief Harding said a Weber City officer and Gate City assisting officer were both allegedly assaulted while working the traffic stop and subsequent arrest.

Harding said he was grateful for the quick actions of the two officers, as well as an assisting Scott County deputy, who helped arrest two individuals at the scene.

Harding added that his gratitude was “immense” for the officers and deputy, who were working last night at the same time two officers were shot and killed in Virginia Beach during a traffic stop.

News Channel 11 has reached out to the Weber City Police Department for more details on the incident.
