Bakelab hosting 3rd Latte Art Throwdown event in Champaign

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — One Champaign County coffee shop is hosting a competition Saturday evening.

Bakelab is presenting Latte Art Throwdown III: Battle of the Pours. Baristas with latte art experience will compete against each other to win the first-place prize. Spectators are welcomed and RSVP is optional but not needed to attend. All you have to do is a grab a drink and enjoy the action.

The event will also include free food, drinks and a front-row seat to the competition. For the contestants, the prizes will be issued out to the winners as follows:

  • 1st place: $100 + coffee equipment
  • 2nd place: $50 + coffee equipment
  • 3rd place: $25 + coffee equipment

Spectators also have the chance to win coffee gear through giveaways. Attendees who do RSVP will be entered into a free raffle.

Barista sign-ups for the event costed $10 and registration ended on Feb. 18. The competition is being held at Lodgic Lobby at 1807 S Neil St. in Champaign. Check-ins are at 5:30 p.m. and the event will start with the first pour at 6 p.m.
