Police said the fight took place about 10.15pm and no injuries were reported.

The group fled the scene when officers arrived.

A 27-year-old man was arrested nearby and released pending inquiries, police said.

A spokesperson for Melbourne Victory said the club was aware of the incident.

“The club is working with all relevant stakeholders to gather further information in order to determine whether there is any connection, or otherwise to last night’s derby,” the spokesperson said.

“Melbourne Victory does not condone any form of violence or antisocial behaviour.

“As the matter is currently under Victoria Police investigation, the club is not in a position to make any further comment.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
