FRANKFORT, Ky. (WDKY/WKRN) — In the last two days, Gov. Andy Beshear announced six more people lost their lives as a result of the severe weather this week.

On Thursday, Feb. 20, Beshear confirmed 15 deaths from weather-related hazards, but he posted on Facebook the following day that five more adults had died.

“I’m sad to share more tough news, as we’ve now lost 20 Kentuckians from the severe weather this week…Kentuckians show up for each other in times of need, and that’s what these 20 families need now as they mourn their loved ones. Let’s pray for them and let them know we’re here for them,” Beshear wrote on Friday, Feb. 21.

No names were released, but the governor described the five victims as two women from Warren and Morgan counties, and three men from Pike, Caldwell, and Ohio counties.

Then, on Saturday, Feb. 22, Beshear announced the death toll had increased to 21, with the most recent victim identified as a man in Logan County.

“These are our fellow Kentuckians, each one a child of God gone too soon,” he said. “Please join Britainy and me as we pray for their families.”

All flood survivors in Kentucky with immediate, non-life-threatening needs, such as unreliable power or electricity, limited drinking water, or medical needs or disabilities, are being asked to fill out a Kentucky Rapid Needs Assessment or call 502-607-6665.
