A NEW York McDonald’s restaurant has rolled out a new policy in a bid to crack down on lawlessness.

Chiefs at the fast food joint in Flatbush – a neighborhood of Brooklyn – are now asking certain diners to show proof of age.

And, the crackdown will mean even certain adults will be barred from the premises unless they comply with the checks.

A note has been put on the door informing diners that those under the age of 20 is not allowed to enter unless they are with a parent and have proper identification, as reported by The New York Post.

The store manager has told how the restaurant has been plagued with crime.

They claimed groups of teens have hurled ice at shoppers and snatched food meant for Uber Eats customers.

In 2011, a man, 18, was shot in the head as he was going into the restaurant.

And, the next year, a manager allegedly assaulted a woman in a food-related argument.

The crackdown has left some shoppers stunned.

“It’s going to be really hard to get a meal now,” Saniya Nightengale, 19, told News12.

“I think the best way to deter crime is to show enforcement on the premises, not come in with your mommy,” local resident Leon Joseph said.

And, the new policy has caused a stir on TikTok.

“I literally get myself a cup of mocha from McDonald’s before I go to college all the time,” a TikToker said.

“So you’re saying, a year ago, I wouldn’t be able to. That’s crazy.”

Another echoed the craziness of the policy.

“Over 20 is crazy,” a diner said.

“18-20 yr olds can go vote but not go to the McDonald’s LMFAO.”

“Over 20 to buy a burger and fries is crazyyy [sic],” a third chimed

A TikToker, known as Sania, shared footage from inside the Flatbush location.

The camera panned around that showed diners digging into their meals.

Sania noted how the atmosphere seemed peaceful and there was no turmoil.

Shoppers have urged other retailers to roll out a similar measure.

One said security guards were now on the door at their local Popeyes establishment.

Others called for similar measures at McDonald’s establishments across New York.

Target is another retailer that has rolled out age restrictions for some locations.

Shoppers under the age of 18 were banned from a Bronx location unless they were accompanied by an adult.

Last year, The U.S. Sun reported how a select number of Giant stores across Washington DC and Maryland banned shoppers under the age of 18 from after 6pm unless they were with an adult.
