BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (WMBD) — An official at Bloomington Junior High School confirmed Monday that one of the four people found dead in a house Sunday was a student here.

David Mouser, the superintendent with Bloomington School District 87, said the district was “deeply saddened” by events that happened over the weekend.

The student, whose name has not yet been released by the McLean County Coroner’s office, was in 8th grade, he said.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the student’s family and loved ones during this difficult time. We have implemented additional social emotional supports and counseling services for our students at the junior high and high school,” Mouser said. “We are working closely with the authorities, and we will continue to provide any necessary support to our students, staff, and community during this tragic time.”

Bloomington police have released little information except to say that four people were found in a house in the 900 block of Lee Street which is near Bent Elementary School.

Sunday night, Bryce Janssen, a police spokesman, said “four people were pronounced deceased at the scene by the McLean County Coroner’s Office. Identification of the deceased will not be released until the next of kin are notified.”

On Monday morning, he reiterated the deaths were an “isolated” incident and there is no threat to the public.

However, he declined to release more information about the manner of death, how people learned of the deaths and who was killed. He said such information could come later after it is released by the McLean County Coroner’s Office.
