PCSO said the suspect “mercifully” put on his underwear before his arrest.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A 24-year-old man was arrested after breaking into a residence in Putnam County, where he was found naked Sunday morning, according to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office.
According to PCSO, a homeowner returned to his residence Sunday evening and found an intruder. Deputies responded to the scene and encountered 24-year-old Keeton Mercier. Mercier had put “mercifully” put on underwear, PCSO wrote in a Facebook post on the case.
However, Mercier refused to exit the residence, prompting officers to enter the home and arrest him on burglary charges, police said.
He was also taken into custody on a warrant for aggravated battery by strangulation related to an incident in January.
Investigators reported that during the break-in, Mercier sustained cuts on his arms and legs. Officers noted behavior at the scene that led them to suspect possible drug use. Evidence collected included pools of blood on the kitchen counter and floor near a broken window, as well as several glass pipes associated with narcotics, PCSO said.
Mercier, who has a previous conviction for battery in 2022, was transported to the hospital for treatment before being taken to the Putnam County Jail, where he is being held without bond.
