Someone who has mutual friends with the Duke of Sussex is weighing in on the claim that his pals have been “cut off” and “frozen out” since he’s been with Meghan.
There’s been a lot of talk lately about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s social circle with the duchess’s new Netflix series on the horizon set to feature some of her celebrity pals, and after one of the duke’s old buddies says he was one of several pals “frozen out” after the prince met the Suits alum.
Now, someone who knows Harry well from when he worked at the Palace and has mutual friends with him is sharing what he’s heard about people who were once tight with the Duke of Sussex being cut off and what he thinks of the guests appearing in Meghan’s upcoming show.

Grant Harrold was King Charles’ butler for seven years. During his time working for the now-monarch Harrold’s duties included that of valet, housekeeper, house manager, and driver. He also looked after Prince Harry and Prince William whenever they stayed at Highgrove House.
Harrold was recently asked about British actor and comedian Jack Whitehall’s revelation that Harry no longer speaks to him because of Meghan.
During an episode of the “Jase & Lauren” podcast, the Bad Education star said: “ I was quite good friends with Harry back in the day. Pre-Meghan, when he was a terror.”
Whitehall added that he was on the pals, the royal dropped when he started seeing Meghan. Others who were reportedly “frozen out” include Harry’s former Eton schoolmate Tom “Skippy” Inskip and good friend Astrid Harbord, who ran in Kate Middleton’s circles.
Speaking on behalf of JeffBet, Harrold explained: “I certainly believe this [Jack Whitehall’s revelation] is true. The reason I say this is because I have one or two mutual friends with Harry who haven’t heard from him since he has been with Meghan. I don’t know what the reason for that may be. He could just be looking for a fresh start, it could also just be that when you move far away it is difficult to keep up with friends all around the world.”
“[The Sussexes social circle] is very private but I am sure it is now much more U.S.-based because that is where they are and that is easier. I think it is more Harry’s friends that have been cut off.”

The former royal butler also discussed the guests who will be appearing in the duchess’s upcoming Netflix series including Mindy Kaling and Abigail Spencer.
When asked if he thought Meghan’s circle of friends were “genuine,” Harrold responded: “I think Meghan’s group of friends has remained very much the same during their relationship. It has likely grown since she has become a member of the royal family. Because of this continuity, I definitely think they are long-term, genuine, friends appearing in her documentary.”
The Duchess of Sussex’s show With Love, Meghan will premiere on March 4.
