THE Daily Show star Jon Stewart has been slammed online after his apparent MAGA dig appeared to backfire.
Stewart was left with a bloodied hand after he smashed a coffee cup during his show that aired on Monday night.
The comedian, 62, was taking a dig at Elon Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency which he spearheads.
“I’m starting to think that we as a country don’t understand where the real waste, fraud, and abuse in our system really is,” he told viewers.
He then suggested ways the government could save money, such as by clawing back subsidies given to oil and gas companies.
Stewart then lashed out at the subsidies given to big pharmaceutical companies.
“The companies we subsidize with billions of dollars are allowing us the privilege to negotiate the price of 10 of their drugs?” he fumed.
And 10 is all of them, right?
“It would be embarrassing if it was a small drop in the bucket, and that the American people didn’t expect that we should negotiate for all their f***ing drugs because we’ve already paid for it with our subsidies!”
Stewart then smashed the mug which had “World’s most dad” on the front of it.
The mug shattered into pieces all over the desk and the host continued his rant.
He then looked sheepishly at his hand and noticed the wound.
“I’ll be going to the hospital soon,” he quipped.
But, he was slammed online. “Smashing that cup showed exactly how desperate Jon Stewart is to not be totally irrelevant,” one critic mocked.
While others were taken aback by the segment.
“Jon Stewart so upset he accidentally broke his mug and cut himself,” a viewer said.
“After a few minutes lifts his hand to reveal a bloody mess and the crowd was NOT ready.”
“The mug didn’t see it coming,” another fan quipped.
