Musk extends deadline to describe work

WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) – More than two million federal workers remain uncertain about their job security after last night’s deadline to respond to an email from Elon Musk, the man President Donald Trump has tapped to make the government more efficient.

Federal employees have a new deadline to send in a list of work accomplishments from last week or they still face the threat of losing their jobs by the Trump administration.

“We’re trying to find out if people are working,” said Trump.

Hours before the Monday deadline, Musk offered an extension, warning, “failure to respond a second time will result in termination.”

Even some Republicans, like New York’s Nicole Malliotakis, are expressing concerns.

“We need to do it in a responsible way, and I see sometimes there are these rash decisions being made,” said Malliotakis.

Connecticut Democrat John Larson is raising questions about the authority Musk has been given regarding sensitive information.

“I commend the federal employees who have stood up to this illegal act,” said Larson.

Leaders at several federal agencies, including the FBI, State Department and Pentagon told their employees not to answer the email.
