Investigators believe the suspect has stolen over $10,000 from shoppers.

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — A woman is in jail Wednesday facing 31 theft charges after the Clay County Sheriff’s Office said she stole more than $10,000 from unsuspecting elderly shoppers.

The sheriff’s office said in a Facebook post that 47-year-old Kabreshia Caldwell would follow around elderly women in grocery and retail stores around Clay County and steal from their purses when they weren’t looking. 

Investigators believe Caldwell has stolen over $10,000 from shoppers. She faces 18 counts of petit theft, 11 counts of fraud and two counts of grand theft. 

Caldwell will be transferred from one jurisdiction, where she is serving time for unrelated charges, to the Clay County Jail where she will face 31 various charges from multiple agencies in addition to the new ones announced Wednesday.
