The teenager is the second and final suspect in the case. An 18-year-old was arrested in the case Saturday.

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — A second outstanding suspect has been arrested in the shooting that injured a child at an Oakleaf soccer field last Friday, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) announced Friday.

Sixteen-year-old Elliot Grijota of Jacksonville was arrested for three counts of attempted murder, according to CCSO. He is the second person arrested in the case, after 18-year-old Behrend Ludwig was arrested Saturday.

The shooting happened at a soccer field in the area of Silver Bluff Boulevard and Plantation Oaks Boulevard. CCSO says that it was “targeted.” Police said the victim and suspects know each other, and were involved in a fight before the shooting.

The victim suffered a gunshot wound to the arm, and the injuries were not life-threatening.

Grijota has been taken to juvenile detention.

“Crime of any sort will never be welcomed and never be tolerated in Clay County. The two suspects in this case had absolutely no regard for human life and their heinous, violent actions put innocent families and children in harm’s way,” Sheriff Michelle Cook said in a statement.

She went on to say: “The safety of our community is my top priority, and we’re committed to holding criminals accountable for their actions. I’d like to thank our community for providing pertinent information at the time of the incident, and to our deputies and investigators for their swift actions. I’m extremely grateful for their hard work and determination to keep our community safe.”

Grijota’s mugshot has not been released due to his age. Ludwig’s mugshot is attached below.
