CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — Seeing doctors and having access to health services will soon be getting a bit easier for some people in Champaign.

Aunt Martha’s Health and Wellness will open its doors off of Market Street behind Crunch Fitness later this year. Officials are expecting an opening in late spring or early summer.

Aunt Martha’s is a non-profit health center that already serving more than 600 towns in the state. Most are in the Chicago area, but Aunt Martha’s also operates health centers in Danville, Kankakee and Peoria.

It’s a way for people using Medicaid or without insurance to see doctors or mental health experts.

“We want to be able to serve the individual wholly,” Raul Garza, the CEO of Aunt Martha’s, said. “So if they’re in there for the flu or cold and they consent to an assessment and it reveals they have depression or maybe anxiety then we’re able to hand that patient off to our resources that can respond and provide care for that patient’s condition.”

Garza said there’s about 43,000 people in Champaign who need accessible healthcare. The company already serves more than 56,000 patients across the state.

More details can be found on Aunt Martha’s website.
