CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — University of Illinois students lent their artistic talents to help design cans for a local brewery.
Wildlife Medical Clinic at Illinois students Kayla and Addy provided four can designs of herptiles for Triptych Brewing’s new “Herp Slurp” brew. The four designs include a Basil (American toad), Onslo (blue-tongued skink), Hazel (eastern box turtle) and Maize (corn snake).
The Savoy brewery’s new beer is crafted with malt from Czechia and German Saphir hops and features mild notes of floral citrus and a “clean, crackery grain character.” The lager has a 4.6% alcohol by volume.
“The name ‘Herp Slurp’ draws from herpetology—the study of reptiles and amphibians,” Triptych Brewing said in a Facebook post.
On Friday from 5-8 p.m., the brewery is offering the beer with burgers from Patty Daddy’s. Additionally, on May 3, they are hosting an event with the Wildlife Medical Clinic. This event will offer attendees the chance to meet ambassador animals in the taproom and learn more about their work in wildlife conservation and education in the community.
