I'm a MAHA mom. Here is why I support RFK Jr's radical movement

Robert F Kennedy Jr is building a surprising fan base with his Make America Healthy Again campaign – moms.

Many mothers in the US are uniting under the MAHA movement, using social media platforms to commend the new Health and Human Services Secretary for his efforts in enhancing food safety by eliminating harmful chemicals and reducing the use of pesticides.

Diana Atieh, a 27-year-old mother residing in Texas, expressed her decision to join the MAHA movement due to her concerns about the well-being of her three-year-old daughter.

The self-proclaimed ‘crunchy mom’ said she believes in creating a natural lifestyle in her home and avoiding processed food.

Following the confirmation of RFK Jr., a photographer and health advocate, she decided to support the newly appointed Health and Human Services Secretary to continue promoting the objectives of the MAHA movement.

She told DailyMail.com: ‘To me the MAHA movement represents the things I care about as a mother and a health advocate, like transparency, bodily autonomy and our ability to choose what’s best for our children without coercion or biased science that’s been paid for by big Pharma, or by a system that’s set up to create lifelong patients rather than promoting true healing.

‘I want to be part of a movement that empowers families to make health decisions based on truth, and not fear, or financial gain. It’s about addressing the root cause of illness, not just masking the symptoms with pills that don’t solve the problem or prioritize long-term health.’

Mrs Atieh’s support for RFK Jr spans much of his MAHA initiative.

She also believes vaccines need to be ‘safely tested’ and there is a possibility vaccinations do not work on everyone, claiming babies have died due to shots.

Mrs Atieh said: ‘I think that vaccines need proper safety testing, including double blind testing in order to [check whether] they are effective and safe. If we really test the safety and efficacy of these vaccines we can examine if they really are scientifically backed.

‘We also can’t ignore that certain people aren’t able to be vaccinated and that vaccinations aren’t a one-size-fits-all, doctors don’t educate patients about the risk that vaccines have, and what about other gene mutations that might contribute to higher risks of vaccination?’

She added: ‘Regardless of how you feel about vaccines, the reality is that babies and children have died because of them, and that alone should encourage us to test the safety and if need be, reform vaccines to be safer.’

She did not reveal if she or her daughter are vaccinated.

RFK Jr has long cast doubt on vaccines, pushing the disproven narrative they cause autism, a claim rejected by the scientific community. Vaccines are hailed as some of the most significant medical advancements, virtually eradicating diseases.

From 1994 to 2023, nine routine childhood immunizations including polio, pneumonia, measles, mumps and rubella prevented more than 1.1million deaths in the US.

There is extremely limited data, however, on how many childhood deaths are linked to vaccines.

A 2019 study that analyzed data from July 1997 through December 2013 found 2,149 children had died shortly after receiving a vaccine, but the researchers wrote most of those deaths were caused by sudden infant death syndrome or another cause.

'We usually try to do a protein, a fruit for fiber, and she loves milk and cheese. We try to make sure everything’s organic as much as we can. My daughter's favorite food is eggs and her favorite treat is currently Gaia Foods Beef tallow cookies,' she told DailyMail.com

Mrs Atieh makes an active effort to incorporate her beliefs into the daily lives of her and her three-year-old daughter, starting with their pantry.

Her kitchen is usually stocked with fresh fruit, meat and raw dairy, including raw milk that she buys from a local farm.

While raw milk has been gaining popularity, experts continue to warn against consuming it in fears of salmonella, listeria and E.coli – all infections caused by bacteria that can cause death.

She also keeps snacks free of seed oils -a product RFK Jr has long targeted in the MAHA movement, claiming they ‘unknowingly poisons’ Americans.

Mrs Atieh avoids high fructose corn syrup, Red 3 and 40; Blue 1 and 2; Yellow 5 and 6 and Green 3.

She explained: ‘I don’t consume seed oils because I believe that they are very toxic for our bodies.

‘Not only are they extremely processed, but also they are extracted with chemical solvents like hexane (Hexane is known to be extremely toxic).

‘Seed oils are also very inflammatory, largely due to the imbalance of omegas. It’s very easy and beneficial to opt for butter, ghee, tallow and coconut oil.

‘We [also] don’t consume artificial food dyes because they have been found to contribute to hyperactivity and other behavioral problems and can also affect our endocrine system, which can hurt our hormones.’

When it comes to what the family does to stay healthy, Mrs Atieh told DailyMail.com they prefer to have eggs for breakfast, spend as much time outside in nature, do workouts and try to do something educational for her child.

She told this website: ‘We usually try to do a protein, a fruit for fiber, and she loves milk and cheese. We try to make sure everything’s organic as much as we can. My daughter’s favorite food is eggs and her favorite treat is currently Gaia Foods Beef tallow cookies,’ which are made with soy-free chocolate, organic wheat flour and beef fat.

She also makes an active effort to not buy or use processed sugar unless required.

She said: ‘We try to stay away from processed sugar, unless we are for instance baking from scratch. It is crazy how much sugar is in every day items. It’s even hard to find things like beef jerky without added sugar.

‘We read all of the ingredients to make sure that sugar is not added and we are mindful of the natural sugar in products.

‘Hidden sugars are everywhere even in foods that are marketed as “healthy” like granola bars, yogurt, fruit packs. So it’s really necessary that I look at every ingredient in pre packaged food.’

While they have a strict routine in-house, Mrs Atieh’s daughter is allowed to visit her friend’s houses where she can eat whatever she likes: ‘It’s very important that she doesn’t have fear of foods, instead she knows what makes her body feel good and nourished and will be able to listen to that.

‘Some kids don’t have that luxury, though, and feeding them artificial dye even for a day can really negatively affect their health or exacerbate behavioral and medical problems.’

The family also likes to frequent restaurants in an effort to maintain a balance.

‘Yes, we will have French fries every now and then when we go out, but we have that balance because we don’t eat those things on a daily basis. A lot of the times if I get like a steak, I will ask them to cook it in butter because I know it will make me feel better,’ she said.

In addition to a more natural diet, Mrs Atieh prefers to primarily use homeopathic treatments when it comes to any health ailments.

The family uses oscillococcinum to cure flus and arnica gel for muscle pain and bruising.

Apart from this, they also cut up potatoes or onions and put them into their socks to help get over sicknesses and use magnesium oil or lemons in place of deodorant – a common practice among influencers.

She added: ‘We use magnesium oil and red light therapy every night before bed. We use beekeeper naturals immune support and elderberry for every day immune boosting.

‘We also are currently doing a parasite cleanse with Roger’s Hood Apothecary.’

While wellness influencers have been advocating the use of such natural remedies, scientists have found no evidence to support any of the claims.

Mrs Atieh explained: ‘For me, the MAHA movement is about creating a world where health is not a business but a path to wellness and healing that’s free from the influence of profit driven motives.’
