Fox News host Sean Hannity sat down with Vice President JD Vance on Monday night, with one of the main topics of conversation being the Friday afternoon dust-up with Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky.

During the interview, Vance hit Zelensky as “entitled” during the exchange, and said President Donald Trump was taking the more “realistic” position of the two men.

“That’s the real breakdown,” he added.

“The president is actually taking a much more realistic perspective in saying this can’t go on forever,” Vance explained. “We can’t fund this thing forever, the Ukrainians can’t fight forever — so let’s bring this thing to a peaceful settlement.”

The Trump administration on Monday officially froze all military aid to Ukraine until Trump feels “the Ukrainians show a commitment to good faith peace negotiations.”

“This is not permanent termination of aid, it’s a pause,” an official inside the administration said of the freeze. “The orders are going out right now.”

Vance also reiterated that the Ukrainian delegation came to the White House to sign a mineral rights agreement, and that the behavior of Zelensky is what threw a wrench into the talks.

The Trump administration maintains that they are working to bring both sides to the table for peace talks, and they have made it clear they believe Ukraine is in an unwinnable position. Trump said as much during the exchange in the Oval Office on Friday.
