WHITE House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt sent a strong message to the Democratic Party ahead of the “big night” President Trump has planned tonight.
Leavitt, 27, spoke on Fox and Friends this morning about what the president has in store for his joint address to Congress, which begins at 9 pm tonight.
“We’re so excited,” Leavitt said.
“It’s a big day and a big night for President Trump.”
Leavitt, who made history as the youngest person to hold the secretary position, said the Democrats may want to “think about” what they do later tonight.
“The democrats should think about if they should stand up and applaud for some of the things President Trump is talking about,” she emphasized.
“He’s bringing common sense back to this country. You’ll hear a lot of common sense tonight.”
Leavitt also mentioned that viewers will hear a lot about international relations tonight as the theme of Trump’s speech is the “renewal of the American Dream.”
“The theme is the renewal of the American Dream, and the renewal of the American Dream is underway already.
“Look at all that President Trump has accomplished in his first month as president.
“He’s going to highlight all of his accomplishments…He will dive into foreign policy and talk about his intentions with Ukraine,” she continued.
“He’s also going to make an ask to Congress tonight. We need more border funding.”
President Trump’s address to Congress comes a few days after a meeting with Ukraine leader President Volodymyr Zelensky turned into a Real Housewives-esque screaming match.
After the meeting last Monday, Trump cut off military aid to Ukraine.
“The president has been clear that he is focused on peace. We need our partners to be committed to that goal as well,” a White House official said. “We are pausing and reviewing our aid to ensure that it is contributing to a solution.”
Trump’s administration said it is “not a permanent pause.”
“This is not permanent termination of aid, it’s a pause,” an official told Fox News.
“The orders are going out right now.”
What will Trump say in his address to Congress?
DONALD Trump will address lawmakers in a joint session of Congress on Tuesday, March 4.

Where will it take place? The chamber of the US House of Representatives.
Will the speech be broadcast? Major news networks will carry the speech, and there will be a live stream on the Associated Press YouTube channel.
Who will attend: House and Senate lawmakers, members of the Supreme Court, Trump’s cabinet. Trump might also invite guests to watch from the balcony above the House floor
What will Trump say? Trump will lay out his agenda for his second administration. Ukraine, inflation, Gaza, migration are all likely to be topics featuring within the speech.
Who will deliver the Democratic response: Michigan senator Elissa Slotkin. The Democratic response is likely to focus on the economy.
Is Trump’s speech a State of the Union address? No. This is because the speech will take place in the early weeks of Trump’s first term.
In the six weeks he has been in office, Trump has signed a stunning 70 executive orders, reversing many that his predecessor, Joe Biden, put into action.
Senator Elissa Slotkin will deliver the rebuttal from the Democratic Party following Trump’s speech.
The Michigan senator previously worked as a CIA analyst and Defense Department official before entering politics in 2018.
In November 2024, Slotkin secured a Senate seat in Michigan, the same state Trump won.
She is set to focus her speech tonight on the economy under Trump’s leadership.
“She will offer a bold vision of hope, unity, and a brighter future for everyone, not just the wealthy few at the top,” former majority leader Chuck Schumer said.
“Elissa Slotkin will layout the fight to tackle the deep challenges we face today, chart a path forward, and shape the future of our nation.”
