House of David is the new eight-part Biblical series on Prime Video, which tells the story of the rise of Israel’s greatest king. The show features a talented cast, including newcomer Michael Iskander, as well as Ali Suliman, Stephen Lang, Davood Ghadami, Ayelet Zurer, Martyn Ford, and Louis Ferreira.

Prime Video released the first three episodes simultaneously last week, and another exciting instalment is set to drop today (March 6). The show has received widespread acclaim from audiences, with many taking to social media to express their praise, reports the Mirror US.

One viewer raved on X: “Watched the first 3 episodes of House of David on Amazon Prime, and let me tell you… Goosebumps people! It is that good! ! !” Another fan wrote: “Over the weekend I watched the first few episodes from “House of David” on Prime…so far it’s biblically accurate with a little bit of artistic freedoms for storytelling purposes.”

They added: “Overall the cinematography is stunning, the acting is solid and I’m looking forward to the rest of the season…hopefully they don’t screw it up!” A third audience member chimed in, saying: “If you haven’t watched the House of David on #Amazon, do yourself a favor and check it out. Great acting and cinematography. #HouseofDavid.”

Where was House of David filmed?

Despite being set in Israel, the show was surprisingly shot in some unexpected locations. IMDb reveals that the ‘House of David’ was filmed in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, a hotspot for numerous productions like HBO’s The Last of Us, Euphoria, FX’s Fargo, Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar and The Revenant.

Alongside the Canadian city, House of David was shot in picturesque Greek locations such as Saronikos, Markopoulo Mesogaias, Fyli and Lavreotiki – selected for their rugged terrains and ancient ruins that ideally set the scene for the historical drama, notes 4Filming.com. Filming spread across Greece and Calgary throughout 2024.

Speaking on the challenges faced during the filming of House of David, the actor Iskander remarked: “You know what? It’s the sheep. The sheep were so difficult to wrangle. And they’re like, genuinely, they ran away from us, one of the takes.

“And we had to go run after them and bring them back. And it was a little cold that day, so maybe that’s why they ran away.

“But yeah. I would say the sheep were actually the most difficult technically.

“Getting them in a certain position, and then moving them up the mountain, and all this stuff. And then one of the other challenges was filming the David and Goliath sequence.”

House of David airs weekly on Prime Video on Thursdays
