Man accused of fleeing from police at over 130 mph, crashing in Glynn County

Investigators found more than a pound of marijuana in 34-year-old Jonathan Hart’s vehicle after the crash, the Glynn County Sheriff’s Office said.

GLYNN COUNTY, Ga. — A man is facing multiple charges after fleeing from law enforcement Wednesday in Glynn County, the sheriff’s office said.

Police said Jonathan Hart, 34, was caught driving a black Dodge Challenger at more than 130 mph on Highway 341. 

During that time, police said Hart drove in and out of oncoming traffic, made multiple illegal U-turns and drove in the wrong direction on Norwich Street before crashing into a guard rail between 10th and 9th Street.

Hart fled the scene on foot but was ultimately taken into custody by responding deputies, police said.

Investigators found more than a pound of marijuana in Hart’s vehicle, police said.

Police said Hart had several active warrants out for his arrest, including fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, willful obstruction of law enforcement and more.

He was arrested Wednesday on the following charges, according to police:

  • Fleeing/Attempting to elude (felony)
  • Possession with intent to distribute (felony)
  • Possession of drug objects
  • Willful obstruction of law enforcement 
  • Speeding
  • Failure to maintain lane
  • Driving under the influence of drugs
  • Improper driving
  • Improper U-turn (two counts)
  • Central Lane for Turning
  • Driving on the wrong side of the road
  • Reckless driving
