Jeremy Gudorf, 33, was arrested at Logan Airport on Feb. 20, moments before a JetBlue flight departed for Paris.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A JetBlue pilot facing a child sex charge out of Huntersville died by suicide when he was confronted by authorities attempting to arrest him on Friday, investigators said.

Jeremy Gudorf was arrested at Boston’s Logan International Airport in February moments before a flight to Paris was scheduled to depart. NBC Boston reported that Gudorf’s bail conditions included turning himself in to authorities in North Carolina. It’s not clear if he ever made that trip.

Gudorf was charged in Massachusetts as a fugitive from justice, according to Massachusetts State Police. The warrant in Huntersville was for second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor. Investigators said Gudorf moved to Ohio during the investigation before he was charged.

State troopers found Gudorf in his car at a train station in Revere, Massachusetts, on Friday morning. When they approached the vehicle, Gudorf pulled out a gun and shot himself. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, detectives said.

JetBlue issued the following statement to NBC News following Gudorf’s arrest:

“We are aware of and closely reviewing the arrest of one of our pilots upon reporting for work at Boston’s Logan Airport Thursday evening due to an outstanding warrant. The pilot has been placed on indefinite leave as law enforcement proceeds with the matter.”
