Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson has declared Paris Saint-Germain the best team the Reds have faced this season.

This comes after their Champions League round of 16 first-leg clash.

Despite securing a late 1-0 win at Parc des Princes, Robertson admitted that Luis Enrique’s side posed a significant challenge.

“They showed how good they can be—an exceptional team, probably the best we have played this season,” the Scottish defender told Liverpool Echo.

Liverpool needed an inspired performance from goalkeeper Alisson Becker to withstand PSG’s relentless attack.

The Brazilian shot-stopper produced a series of crucial saves, keeping the Reds in the game before Harvey Elliott’s 87th-minute winner.

“We will have to play better as we can’t rely on Alisson playing the game of his life every time,” Robertson added.

Liverpool, currently dominating the Premier League with a 16-point lead over Arsenal, are unaccustomed to being second-best.

However, PSG’s dominance in possession and chances created made this a rare experience for the Reds.

“It’s a game we’re not overly used to in terms of how big the difference in possession was, how many shots they had, and how many shots we had,” Robertson added.
