Arlecia Brown, 35, was arrested on burglary and theft charges Friday. The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office says she has an “extensive criminal history.”

BUNNELL, Fla. — An alleged campaign worker for Congressional District 6 candidate Josh Weil was arrested Friday in Flagler County on burglary and theft charges, according to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO).

Arlecia Brown, 35, is charged with burglary of an occupied structure, theft from a dwelling, two counts of unlawful possession of personal identification information of another person and possession of burglary tools, a press release from FCSO states. She is being held on a $67,500 bond at the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility.

Brown was arrested after FCSO deputies responded to a vacant Palm Coast home after receiving a call about a “suspicious person” with a bike in the yard of the home, according to the release.

Police say Brown was distributing Weil’s campaign fliers at the time of her arrest and matched the description of a suspect involved in the theft of a bike within the same neighborhood the night before.

“Detectives began investigating the theft on March 6 (Thursday) after a victim contacted the FCSO Communications Center to report the stolen bicycle,” the release states. “According to the victim, her child left the bicycle inside an open garage, and when the child returned to retrieve it, the bicycle was gone.”

FCSO says Brown had two Florida driver’s licenses that were not hers and burglary tools in her possession at the time deputies made contact with her.

The bike reported stolen Thursday was later found by deputies from behind a shed at the vacant home, according to the release.

FCSO says Brown has an “extensive criminal history,” with 14 previous misdemeanor charges and 15 previous felony charges; three of her felony charges (robbery with a firearm, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon) resulted in convictions.

In District 6, Democrats and Republicans are pushing for people to vote for either Democrat Josh Weil or Republican Randy Fine in this spring’s special election. The district includes southern St. Johns County, Putnam, Flagler, Lake, Marion and Volusia counties.

Fine is scheduled to hold a press conference Monday to discuss Brown’s arrest.

First Coast News has reached out to Weil’s campaign, and is waiting to hear back.
