THE boyfriend of Traitors star Janne Puhakka has been charged with his murder after allegedly planning the horror shotgun attack for two weeks.

Norwegian vet Rolf Nordmo, 66, is accused of fatally shooting the 29-year-old former ice hockey pro at their shared home in Espoo, Finland, last October.

The prosecutor has now demanded that Nordmo serve a life sentence, which in Finland typically means less than 15 years behind bars, local outlet Yle reports.

Puhakka, a contestant on Finland’s The Traitors, was still on the show when he was brutally killed.

The TV finale has since been postponed.

‘Planned for weeks’

Nordmo was officially charged with murder on Thursday, with prosecutors alleging the crime took place over a period of several days between September 29 and October 13 2024.

The extended timeframe suggests Nordmo had been planning the attack for weeks, authorities believe.

Finnish law allows for a murder charge if the killing is carried out with deliberate intent or in a particularly brutal or cruel manner.

Police previously stated that a relationship breakup was suspected to be the motive.

Puhakka and Nordmo had been together for almost a decade before reportedly growing apart earlier in 2024.

Puhakka, the first Finnish professional ice hockey player to come out as gay, was found dead at his home in the Henttaa district of Espoo on October 13.

Nordmo was detained at the scene and has since admitted to shooting Puhakka — but denied murder.

Puhakka’s murder has rocked Finland, where he was widely known for both his ice hockey career and reality TV appearance.

The Traitors contestant was still in the running as a “traitor” when he was killed.

Broadcaster Nelonen confirmed the show’s finale has been postponed indefinitely.

“We have come to the conclusion that now is not the right time to air an episode,” a statement read.

“We share in the grief of Janne’s loved ones.”

Puhakka first made headlines as a teenage hockey star, representing Finland at youth level before playing for Espoo Blues and Espoo United.

He retired in 2018 and later pursued studies in international business.

Former Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin led tributes, posting an image of Puhakka with a broken heart emoji.

The trial will begin at the Western Uusimaa District Court in Espoo on Thursday.
