After all, Joe Manganiello is an amazing host, Dr. Will Kirby has been extremely daring and his “Golden Gods” feud with David Genat was extremely entertaining. On top of DONDI being buoyed by the Dr. Will effect since even his deleted scenes are amazing, the show also cas the Survivor Hall of Famer Parvati Shallow.

While all of that is great, DONDI also is a must-see show because it has great gameplay like epic blindsides and compelling social game moments. With that in mind, it is fascinating to look at what La Shell Wooten exclusively told TheThings about how a twist ruined her game that was going great before that.

Deal Or No Deal Island’s La Shell Wooten Believes A Twist Ruined Her Game

Ever since reality shows took the television landscape by storm, one of the genre’s most difficult tasks has been to keep fans engaged. When it comes to competition shows like Deal or No Deal Island, one of the best ways to keep viewers interested has been to make them chaotic.

For that reason, it has long been common for reality shows to have twists that the players have to try their best to cope with. Unfortunately for some reality show players, it can sometimes be near impossible for them to deal with the consequences of a twist.

During Deal or No Deal Island Season 2, Episode 8 featured a twist that dramatically changed how things played out. After that episode, Deal or No Deal Island’s La Shell Wooten exclusively told TheThings that she believes that twist blew up her game.

In February 2025, Deal or No Deal Island’s La Shell Wooten was interviewed by TheThings journalist Matthew Thomas.

During that interview, Matthew expressed to La Shell his belief that a twist completely ruined her chances of winning the game. In response to that question, La Shell agreed that a twist ruined her game.

With that statement in mind, it is important to note what the twist that ruined La Shell’s game was.

During Deal or No Deal Island Season 2, Episode 8, there was an excursion that Joe Manganiello partly described this way. “Along the way, you’ll encounter a few obstacles. As you progress, you’ll need to identify the group’s biggest liabilities and cut them loose.”

Each time one of the players were cut loose, that was supposed to put them in danger of having to play Deal or No Deal, which puts them in danger of elimination. However, after four players were cut loose, the show introduced a twist.

If three of the four players agreed to put the fourth player in danger, they would all become immune from playing Deal or No Deal. After that happened, Dickson Wong was the player chosen to be in danger. As the fifth person to be cut loose during the excursion, La Shell was also in peril of having to play Deal or No Deal.

Ultimately, Parvati Shallow had to choose who would play Deal or No Deal at the end of the episode. As a result of the twist, Parvati could only choose La Shell or Dickson to play Deal or No Deal.

As most viewers expected, Parvati chose La Shell to play Deal or No Deal and that led to her elimination after she made a bad deal.

While speaking exclusively to TheThings, La Shell went on to speak about how her game was going before the twist. When asked about how she seemed to have built connections with everyone, La Shell revealed that she was surprised by how well her game was going strategically.

“Honestly, I was playing a very good game. Surprisingly, I didn’t really have a strategy. I was like me. Right? This is me. People who know me and who’ve been watching the show, every sound bite they hear, they’re like, ‘Oh my god. You just were you. Like, this is you in real life.’ And so it worked for me, you know?”

Finally, La Shell told TheThings that she completely believes she was eliminated when she was because of the twist.

Deal Or No Deal Island’s La Shell Wooten Wasn’t That Upset About Being Eliminated Early

After La Shell Wooten was eliminated from Deal or No Deal Island, she spoke during a confessional interview about how harsh the game was becoming. “There’s a lot of knives out. It’s gonna be probably a little bit more of a vicious game than I actually even wanna be a part of.” Based on that comment, TheThings journalist Matthew Thomas asked La Shell about how she felt about her Deal or No Deal Island elimination.

While speaking exclusively to TheThings, La Shell explained she didn’t think it was likely she would become Deal or No Deal Island’s winner. “I knew from the beginning that only one person’s gonna make it to the end. And there I am playing the banker and looking at everyone in the galley, and it looks like the cast of The Avengers. And I’m like, how far are you really gonna go? Right? Because you still gotta get through challenges.”

La Shell then explained that she didn’t want to be eliminated from the game by someone else. As a result, La Shell stated that she’d made peace with the idea of being eliminated by making a bad deal.

“The other part of it was I didn’t want my game to end by someone sending me home. And if I had to go, I kind of accepted that, okay, I might and I could have gone out when me and CK played the banker early on. Yeah. So I kind of was settled in my soul. Like, if the if the cards are not for you, they’re not for you.”

Finally, La Shell exclusively told TheThings how she felt about getting to have fun once she was eliminated from Deal or No Deal Island.

“At the same time, I was like, ‘Now I can kinda go hang out with the other exiled people.’ Right? Either way, it was a win win for me. Right? I either continue to be on this journey, that is Deal or No Deal Island, [or I go have fun.]”

Since she seems to be so lovely, it is nice to know that La Shell was content with how her Deal or No Deal Island experience ended.
