PINELLAS PARK, Fla. (WFLA) — A 16-year-old Pinellas Park girl was arrested for a second time in a child pornography investigation after police said they uncovered additional evidence that revealed the teen was not only sending porn, but molesting children herself.

The Pinellas Park Police Department’s investigation began after detectives said they received several tips that the 16-year-old was transmitting child porn, along with self-generated images, through various social media platforms in return for payment.

Detectives said they found multiple electronic devices they believe the teen used for “her nefarious actions” while searching the home she lived at with her parents. When questioned, police said the teen admitted to the accusations.

She was arrested in mid-February for five counts of possession of child pornography but now faces several additional charges, including some for molesting and sexually battering a victim under 12 years old. The charges against her are as follows:

  • Sexual battery involving a victim under 12 years old
  • Lewd and lascivious molestation involving a victim under 12 years old
  • Lewd and lascivious exhibition involving a victim under 12 years old
  • Attempted lewd and lascivious molestation involving a victim under 12 years old
  • Two counts of transmission of child pornography
  • 13 counts of possession of child pornography

The teen was taken into custody again after the new charges were filed in March, according to Pinellas Park police. In a statement, Chief Adam Geissenberger said her arrest should serve as a reminder for parents to monitor their children’s social media activity and electronic devices.

“The Pinellas Park Police Department remains fully committed to protecting our children and aggressively investigating crimes that exploit vulnerable members of our community,” Geissenberger said. “This case underscores the importance of vigilance regarding online activities and highlights the critical role parents play in monitoring their children’s interactions on social media.”
