CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — The Chicago Cubs are in Japan for multiple games the next few days and a Central Illinois native is along for the ride.

Scott Changnon, the digital content manager at Marquee Network, grew up in Champaign and went to Central High School. He tore his ACL his senior year and was sidelined from the football field. That’s when he picked up a camera instead, developing a passion he never thought possible.

“I want to bring the fans into the camera wells with me,” he said. “A lot of fans aren’t there, they aren’t here in Tokyo. I want to bring them what I see in the camera wells.”

He’s the one behind the camera lens of content from the Marquee Network on social media and on TV.

“I really want to bring that passion that I have to the fans out there that have just as much a passion for the sport as I do,” the photographer added.

Changnon is thankful for his career and what he gets to do every day with the MLB team. But, he knows it wouldn’t be possible without his Central Illinois support system.

“You felt like family at Central. I feel like family is the biggest part of my time at Central High School,” he added.

While he was a student, his dad was the career and professions advisor.

“Having family members in the hallway was always special,” Changnon said.

This is his first time in Japan, and he said he’s excited to experience the culture around him. The Chicago Cubs play the Los Angeles Dodgers on March 18 and 19 in the Tokyo Dome.
