The victim, Arthur Bass, was found near a kayak launch on Chelsea Street in Brooklyn on June 2, JSO said. Police later determined he was forced to ingest fentanyl.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Two more people have been arrested in the fentanyl-related death of a Jacksonville man from 2023, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) announced Thursday.

The body of 72-year-old Arthur Bass was found near a kayak launch at McCoys Creek on June 2, 2023. Javaris Bowman was charged with murder in November 2023.

Lonah Davis, 21, and Bradley Bradshaw, 24, were charged in February with being an accessory after the fact. Davis was booked into the Duval County Jail Feb. 21. Bradshaw was charged on Feb. 16 while in Duval County Jail, though he received another accessory after the fact charge on Nov. 29, 2023.

Detectives found bruising and lacerations on Bass’ body and his death was later determined to be a homicide, the incident report stated. According to the report, a woman received images of a dead man from Bradshaw.

The report said Bowman was the driver of a vehicle spotted by surveillance footage around Chelsea Street around 10 p.m. June 1. The report said Davis and Bradshaw were also in the vehicle. The report said the four people entered and exited Cascade Apartments, where the victim lived, before leaving at 8:30 p.m.

A witness said she saw Bowman and another man break into an apartment and that they had kidnapped a man “in an altercation over money.” Another witness said the dispute was over a JEA bill.

The report said Bowman was involved in an early morning crash on Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway on June 2, 2023 while driving a Saturn Ion that was spotted near Cascade Apartments. Officers found blood in the trunk of the Saturn Ion. The report said Bowman told a witness he forced the victim to overdose on fentanyl.

Bowman was arrested on Nov. 21, 2023.

Bradshaw was charged in 2023 with attempted aggravated battery and “shooting or throwing deadly missiles,” where an arrest report said he fired at a man’s vehicle near 61st Street West and Vermillion Street. Incarcerated since June 14, 2023, Bradshaw was adjudicated guilty and will be sentenced April 23.
