Four men were arrested and charged with second-degree murder, among other charges, for the death of 7-year-old Breon Allen.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Breon Allen’s parents were in the audience to watch Jacksonville Sheriff T.K. Waters announce four arrests for the death of their son.

This comes about a month and a half since the 7-year-old was shot and killed while walking along the sidewalk on Jacksonville’s Westside.

Casheena Love says she’s taken the last six weeks or so day-by-day since learning her son was killed.

“Every day is not a good day for me, or him, or our other loved ones,” said Love. “We took a big hit to the chest.”

Wednesday marked a better day than most, as Love was at the sheriff’s office to learn four men were arrested in the case.

“To Breon Allen Jr.’s parents, this agency stands with you,” said Waters. “Jacksonville stands with you. This community will not submit to brutality.”

“I’m surprised they came to a conclusion very early in the case because a lot of people don’t get this kind of justice in a case,” said Love. “I’m very thankful and humbled.”

Waters said the man walking with Allen, Lafayette Mango, who was injured in the shooting, was the intended target.

“Our kids are supposed to bury us,” said Waters. “When you have these clowns, these guys, doing these kinds of things to members of our community, especially seeing that young baby out there like that, big problem.”

Every arrest report lists each of the four men as known gang members.

“These guys don’t operate with just one target,” said Waters. “They do this stuff continuously over and over again. Those four won’t, and there’s more coming. We’re going to stop those guys from being able to do that, also.”

Love said her focus now is to keep Allen’s name alive.

“Be expecting to see things in his name,” said Love. “I’m definitely going to turn this into a positive situation.”

Allen’s parents said that should any of these cases go to trial, they’ll be there even if it’s hard because they still have questions they want to get answers too.

“It’s nothing that they couldn’t have gotten together and come to some kind of agreement,” said Love. “It shouldn’t have come to my child being gunned down. Whatever started this beef or gang war, should’ve never happened.”
