Home considered 'total loss' following fire near Fairbury

FAIRBURY, Ill. (WCIA) — Twelve different fire departments responded to a house fire just southwest of Fairbury early Saturday morning.

At 3:06 a.m., the City of Fairbury Fire Department was dispatched to a fully engulfed rural structure fire at 19561 E 600 N Road southwest of Fairbury. Units were en route to the fire at 3:08 a.m. and arrived on scene at 3:14 a.m.

According to Fire Chief Josh Hoselton, upon arrival, the structure was found to be fully involved and a MABAS box alarm was requested, bringing many additional departments to the scene. All units cleared the scene by 7:30 a.m. The homeowner was out of town at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported on scene.

  • Livingston County Sheriff’s Department
  • Eastern Illini Electric
  • VCOM Dispatch

The cause of the fire remains unknown at this time and will stay this way until the investigation ends. The home is considered to be a total loss, with minor damage to a nearby detached garage.
