Apple TV+ has been scoring with hit after hit, thanks to its bread-and-butter shows. The platform is home to popular shows like Shrinking, but the question around the water cooler at work is, “Are you caught up on Ted Lasso or Severance?”

Most recently, Ted Lasso surprised everyone by announcing a Season 4 renewal with the return of Jason Sudeikis, who portrays an American football coach in charge of a British soccer club. Over three seasons of the show, fans have come to love his comedic and optimistic approach.

The surprise Season 4 announcement leaves fans wanting every detail about the show, and we have some to share, of course.

Keep reading to get all the details about Ted Lasso‘s newest season.

At this time, only Sudeikis is confirmed as a returning cast member for this season. However, Forbes reported that Warner Bros. revealed options for three original cast members in August: Hannah Waddingham, who plays AFC Richmond owner Rebecca Walton; Jeremy Swift, who appears as Director of Football Operations Leslie Higgins; and Brett Goldstein, who depicts footballer Roy Kent.

Forbes also found that many original cast members have expressed enthusiasm for the show and hope to return for Season 4.

However, Deadline found that among the actors we may see for Season 4, fan-favorite Phil Dunster‘s name did not appear. Dunster may be absent in the new season due to conflicting schedules with other shows he stars in, such as Apple’s Surface and Prime Video’s The Devil’s Hour.

What is the plot of Ted Lasso Season 4?

While details on the plot of Season 4 are limited, CNN reported that Sudeikis revealed on the New Heights podcast hosted by Jason and Travis Kelce that fans are in for a twist this season because he is now coaching a women’s team.

The reveal teases fans with an exciting storyline that questions what the dynamic between Lasso and a British women’s football team will be like.

When will Ted Lasso Season 4 premiere on Apple TV+?

No official release date has been announced, but Deadline reported that the show is expected to start production in July after casting new characters.

Sudeikis also mentioned on the New Heights podcast that they are writing Season 4 now. Hopefully, the 13-time Emmy award-winning show can score more success heading into Season 4.

Seasons 1-3 of Ted Lasso are now available on AppleTV+.
