Authorities arrest two evicted tenants for reportedly leaving their dog to starve in an abandoned apartment.

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — Two men were arrested for abandoning their dog in an apartment without food, water or power after being evicted, the Brevard County sheriff announced Monday.

Sheriff Wayne Ivey said their animal enforcement team was contacted by a property manager at an apartment complex on Feb. 6 requesting assistance for a dog left in deplorable conditions.

Ivey said the dog, named Rosie, had been abandoned in the apartment after two tenants, Frederick and Christopher Tindall, were evicted. Rosie was left behind without food, water or power. She was found “covered in infections and starving to death,” Ivey said.

When the Tindalls were called back to the apartment by the animal enforcement team, Ivey said their reasoning for leaving Rosie behind was, “We come first.”

“What a bag of crap the two of them are,” Ivey said in a video posted to the sheriff’s office Facebook page.

Rosie was transported to an animal emergency team that brought her to a stable condition, but she ultimately passed away.

Ivey said after speaking with authorities about Rosie, the Tindalls “knew they were in trouble” and fled to Georgia.

“Well, trick-or-treat, this is Brevard County. You can run but you can’t hide,” Ivey said.

The sheriff’s office received arrest warrants for the Tindalls, tracked them down and arrested them. They are facing charges for aggravated animal cruelty and unlawful confinement abandonment. The bond for both of them was $3,000.

“All you had to do was take care of your little pet… But instead, you took care of yourself,” Ivey said. “Well, guess what? We’re gonna take care of you now. By law, I gotta do it a certain way, be glad I can’t do it my way, because my way would be way worse than what you did, trust me.”
