From 2023 to 2025, true crime fans were captivated by the story of Natalia Grace, a Ukrainian former orphan who went through multiple adoptive families, including the Barnetts. Her time with former adoptive parents Michael Barnett and Kristine Barnett was the subject of season 1 of Investigation Discovery’s docuseries The Curious Case of Natalia Grace.

Imogen announced in August 2024 that she had wrapped filming for Good American Family, sharing a collection of photos from her time on the show on Instagram.

“I can’t believe I’ve just filmed my first ever TV series and I happen to be playing the main character,” she wrote in the caption. “This experience has been honestly the best experience I have ever had! Every single person was so so supportive and I remember being soo nervous on my first day as it was all soo new to me!!”

The Third Day crew member continued, “Thank you to everyone for always being the best everyday, for putting up with my singing and singing along, dancing with me on set when I had my zoomies and just always making me feel so loved and special it meant a lot. I still can’t believe I got this opportunity, I still pinch myself everyday about what I’ve just done for the last 5 months I’m soo lucky and grateful.”

Imogen concluded by thanking the creators of Good American Family for giving her the role and “believing” in her.

“This story is for Natalia Grace,” she added with hearts. “Thank you and I miss all of you even though it’s been a month.”

Per Hulu, Good American Family is “told from multiple points of view to reflect the contrasting narratives of its central characters” and is “inspired by real events involving a Midwestern couple who adopts a girl with a rare form of dwarfism.”

The Barnetts later begin to question her age and background and “slowly start to wonder if she really is who she says she is.”

Meanwhile, “she fights her own battle to confront her past and what her future holds, in a showdown that ultimately plays out in the tabloids and the courtroom.”

The first two episodes of Good American Family are slated to premiere on Hulu on March 19, 2025 at midnight ET, followed by a weekly episode until the finale on April 30.
