She drove the internet wild — and this police officer nuts.
A young woman from a Georgia sorority, whose attractive mugshot gained widespread attention, explained to The Post that she got arrested because she mistakenly started speeding right after getting pulled over for speeding.
Lily Stewart, 20 years old, was taken into custody for this double mistake while on her way to a birthday party along a rural road on March 8. Stewart, known for her flawless arrest photo that captivated the internet, shared her experience.
“It was the second time speeding that got me arrested,” she told The Post. “[The cop] placed me in handcuffs and put me in the back of his car.”
Being a member of the Alpha Chi sorority, Stewart recounted that a Georgia State Patrol officer initially stopped her for driving approximately 75 mph in a 55 mph zone near Athens.
“The officer saw me while he was driving the opposite direction. He was like, ‘You’re speeding’ and he was super friendly, and I was super friendly, and he wrote me a ticket,” the University of Georgia student said.
“As soon as I got back in the car, I pulled out — and accidentally started speeding again. By the time I caught myself, he pulled me over and arrested me.”
It was easy to unwittingly drive too fast on the country road, she said, because “it was completely empty” with “cows grazing cows on either side.”
Stewart’s mugshot — which features her with a bright smile and spotless makeup — charmed social media users, with fans offering to pay her bail and one gushing, “They done locked up Miss America!”
But the student said she’s been laughing off the attention, which has included both praise and jokes about her glamorous appearance.
“I think it’s hilarious. I don’t know what all the hype is about. I just took a mugshot and went on with my day,” she said.
“I love all the comments poking fun at me, saying, ‘She was on her way to Lululemon’ or ‘She must have had to [pee] really bad.”
“I don’t let it get under my skin too much,” she said.
The reason her mugshot is model-worthy is due to the timing of getting pulled over, she said.
“I was going to a friend’s birthday in Milledgeville, [Ga.] — and I had just gotten ready not long before, so that’s maybe why my makeup and hair still looked good,” she said.
On Wednesday, social media blew up with comments about her arrest photo with some mock-pleading her innocence.
“Whatever she did my heart says she’s innocent,” one user wrote.
“How much is her bail? I’ll pay it,” another quipped on X — while a third wondered, “Is her phone number in the [police] report?”
