Family of 3 missing after Grand Canyon visit

() A family of three disappeared in northern Arizona while traveling from the Grand Canyon to Las Vegas earlier this month on vacation, according to local authorities.

The Coconino County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in finding Jiyeon Lee, 23; Taehee Kim, 69; and Junghee Kim, 64.

The family was last known to be traveling together in a rented white BMW on Interstate 40 around 3:30 p.m. local time on March 13, per the vehicle’s GPS.

That day, winter weather in Arizona led to a deadly crash on that same road near Williams, Arizona, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

“The collision involved a total of 22 vehicles, including 13 passenger vehicles. A total of 36 drivers and occupants were involved in the incident, including two fatalities, and 16 injured persons were transported for medical care,” the department’s Facebook post reads in part.

The site of the crash is roughly an hour’s drive from the Grand Canyon and on the way to Las Vegas via I-40.

The missing family’s rental car has the California license plate 9KHN768.

“Law enforcement is aware of the large multivehicle accident that occurred on I40 on this day; however it is not known if this vehicle was involved in the accident,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

The Coconino County Sheriff’s Office asks anyone with information about the family’s whereabouts to contact them.
