Target faces urgent recall for 200K cans of vegetables: FDA

Nearly 200,000 cans of Target-brand green beans have been urgently recalled in several states.

That’s according to an enforcement report released by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

On February 12, 197,808 cans of Good & Gather Cut Green Beans were recalled due to potential contamination from a foreign object.

A month later, on March 13, the FDA the recall was declared as a “Class II” classification, which is the second highest risk level.

A “Class II” distinction means that the “product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences.”

However, these recalls are unlikely to lead to serious health issues.

The recall announcement is still ongoing, and it has not been confirmed whether any consumers who ate the green beans have experienced illness or injury.

The FDA also did not specify what type of foreign object may have contaminated the green beans.

The recalled Good & Gather green beans were manufactured by Del Monte Foods, Inc. based in California, but they were distributed to Target stores in 21 states nationwide.

The affected states where the green beans were delivered are Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia, and Wisconsin.

Customers who have purchased the Good & Gather Cut Green Beans and are wondering if their product was affected should look for the following:

  • Lot number: 7AA 418507
  • Universal Product Code (UPC): 0 85239-11628 9
  • Best by date: 10/28/2026
  • Size: 14.5 ounces (411 grams)

So far, there has been no instruction given to consumers on what to do if they have a recalled product. However, it’s commonly recommended to either throw the item out or return it to the store that it was purchased at.
