Farmer Wants a Wife season 3 bachelor Jay Woods knows he doesn’t seem like the typical image of a “cowboy,” but his childhood on his grandfather’s horse farm prepared him for a life outdoors, and he wouldn’t have it any other way. The 25-year-old rancher is one of four men participating in the new season of Fox’s dating show, where he’ll search for love with eight city women. In Touch shares everything fans need to know about Jay ahead of the premiere.

Where is Jay Woods From?

Jay was born and raised in Florence, Alabama. He still lives in the town on his farm today.

What Type of Farmer Is Jay Woods?

After gaining experience from his grandfather’s horse farm, Jay became a hay and cattle farmer on 515 acres of land. According to his bio for Farmer Wants a Wife, shared by People, the businessman grew up doing “farming, hunting, kayaking, fishing, and anything else that kept him outdoors surrounded by animals.”

Jay revealed in an interview with Rocket City Now that his cousin owns the hay and cattle farm, while he helps with the operations.

“I’ve been farming for a while now, and I love it. It’s something I love to do. But we also have a big operation that we run, a cow-calf operation. Also, we sell hay as well. So it’s definitely fun, but we try to make some money off of it, too,” he explained.

Farming Isn’t Jay Woods’ Only Job

While Jay has found a passion for farming, he revealed in his interview that he’s also a sales rep.

“So, you know a lot of people think, ‘OK, full-time farmer,’ which, as much as I would love to do it, that’s not the case. I was always told as a businessman too, you let the farm take care of the farm, and then you let your day job take care of the house,” he said. “So, you don’t miss those two finances, and that’s how you can stay afloat. So, I do work as a sales rep remotely, which is which is nice because I’m able to be out here [on the farm] when I need to.”

Jay graduated from Michigan University with a degree in kinesiology before moving on to Duke University for grad school, where he received a master’s in management studies from the Fuqua School of Business.

“I am a businessman at the end of the day,” he explained. “You know, in this world, you have to be able to have some type of income come in and you want to make it make sense. With the operation, we have a cow-calf operation. So basically what that is, you let the cows have calves, and you let those calves get big, and you take them down [to] the sale barn and get the money.”

Jay Woods Dreamed of Playing Pro Football

Before he became a successful farmer, Jay dreamed of going pro in football. However, he sustained an injury while playing for Duke University, which forced him to give up his dream and change his course to find a new path.

“He began to reflect on the times in his life that made him the happiest to determine his next steps,” his bio reads. “Choosing to return to his roots was easy, and he’s never looked back.”

Jay reiterated in his interview that he had no regrets about his decision.

“Like, I love this game, but am I willing to sacrifice my body where ten years from now or five years from now, I could hardly walk or lift my shoulder up, or even think right?” he said. “So, I had to make that tough decision to hang up the cleats. But, I’m glad I did it because I wouldn’t be in the position I am now if I didn’t.”

Who Are the Women Dating Jay Woods on ‘Farner Wants a Wife’ Season 3?

Though he’s often busy with business, Jay’s mom has been pressuring him to have grandchildren, according to his bio. He’s looking for a “kind-hearted, refined, confident woman who isn’t afraid to get her hands dirty on the farm.”

The eight women who will date Jay on Farmer Wants a Wife season 3 are Grace, 23, a nanny from Ellensburg, Washington; Jackie, 24, a nanny from Los Angeles; Julia, 22, a model and student from Malibu; Kailee, 26, an electronic specialist from California, Kentucky; Karina, 23, an operations manager from Madison, Wisconsin; Natalie, 22, an accounting technician from Colorado Springs, Colorado; T’yana, 23, a nurse from Wooster, Ohio; and Viviane-Lee, 24, a zoo employee from Los Angeles.
