The highly anticipated premiere of the second season of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is slated for May 15, 2025. When Hulu released the trailer in early March, it featured a lot of familiar faces from #MomTok as well as a couple of new additions to the show.
Season 2 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives revisits the private and professional lives of Jen Affleck, Demi Engemann, Whitney Leavitt, and the other cast members as well as incorporating newbie Miranda McWhorter. Miranda was one of the women involved in the #MomTok swings scandal from 2022, as was her former husband, Chase.
In addition to the revival of drama and controversy surrounding #MomTok and its past, Jen Affleck’s pregnancy and tumultuous marriage will likely be front and center, season 1 villain Whitney is back, and Taylor Frankie Paul is seen exchanging heated words with former flame Dakota Mortensen. And that’s just what the trailer showed. Here’s more of what fans can likely expect from the new season.
Miranda McWhorter Joins Season 2 Of The Secret Lives Of Mormon Wives WIth “No Hard Feelings” About The Past
The #MomTok swinging scandal came to light when, in Season 1 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, Taylor Frankie Paul talked about the “soft swinging” she and her former husband, Tate, were involved in. Among the other individuals implicated in the controversy were Chase and Miranda McWhorter.
Much like Taylor and Tate, the McWhorters have divorced since the swinging scandal broke. When talking about the swinging parties he and his ex-wife attended, Chase told US Weekly in September 2024:
“It all started during Covid. … [It was] a bunch of our friends coming — couples — and then we’d all get trashed on alcohol and then, like, these games would come up… Spin the bottle or whatever.”
Chase made it clear that he and Miranda participated, but:
“It was never predetermined that we were going to be doing, like, swinging. That’s what we always thought was a little bit misrepresented in Taylor’s story, as she presents it.”
Miranda, for her part, told Josie Van Dyke on her YouTube podcast Weekly Trash that she and Chase were never “full on swinging.” As of August 2024, Miranda said she was still on good terms with many #MomTok women, including Taylor Frankie Paul. She explained,
“The tensions have died down and I’m in such a different place in my life physically, mentally, just totally different. And I also think holding grudges really is only going to hurt yourself more than it’s going to hurt anyone else… I’m happy for everyone’s success and there’s no hard feelings at this point. I’m happy everyone’s been able to move on.”
Now that she’s on The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, that may or may not continue.
Whitney Leavitt Swore She Was Done With The Secret Lives Of Mormon Wives
In the trailer for season 2 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, Whitney Leavitt says,
“They’re holding grudges and I don’t even know why.”
Presumably a statement about her fellow cast mates, Whitney left #MomTok briefly after the first season of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. She said she wanted to “focus on my family,” and was pregnant with her third child at the time.
Whitney’s break from the women of #MomTok didn’t last long, however. She was “excited” to return to the show when she announced she’d be back for season 2 in October 2024 and anticipated “tough conversations ahead.”
Whether those “tough conversations” have happened or will be shown on The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is not clear. Whitney has gone on record that she learned a lot from the first season, some of which she may use to navigate Season 2. On Off the Vine with Kaitlyn Bristow, Whitney said she wants to “let go of what I can’t control” or “take things as personally” going forward.
Jen Affleck Is Pregnant, Taylor Frankie Paul Is Dating, And The Other Women From The Secret Lives Of Mormon Wives Are Ready For The Show To Go On
Jen Affleck’s ups and downs with her husband, Zac, were clearly presented during Season 1 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, although their future remained up in the air. Zac had been accepted to medical school in New York, but Jen wasn’t resistant to relocating.
In the trailer for the new season of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, Zac is seen at Jen’s front door with flowers and an expectant look on his face, an indication that they are moving forward together in some way. The positive pregnancy test shown in the trailer may also be Jen’s. In early 2025, Jen told People that she was expecting her third child with Zac and that the couple was “excited.” She did note, however, “a lot of emotions after a very crazy year!”
While Jen and Zac appear to be in a better place, the interaction between Taylor Frankie Paul and Dakota Mortensen in the trailer makes it clear they are not. After Taylor gave birth to their son, Ever True, in March 2024, she and Dakota tried to make their relationship work. As of January 2025, however, the couple split.
Details about what Mikayla Matthews, Jessi Ngatikaura, Layla Taylor, Demi Engemann, and Mayci Neely have been up to aren’t as clear from the trailer but, as is noted at the end, the “show must go on.”
