Coward arrested for punching, slapping dog

COLUMBIA COUNTY, Ga. () – A Columbia County man is accused of abusing his dog.

According to reports from the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, Elijah Coward, 21, was charged with Cruelty to Animals and booked into the Columbia County Jail on March 20.

According to the incident report, Coward and his girlfriend got into an argument after their pitbull puppy began chewing on a recent Amazon delivery.

Coward allegedly grabbed the puppy, who had already retreated to his cage, held him down then punched and and slapped the dog in the head.

Coward then reportedly took the dog to the toddler’s bedroom, where the dog had urinated, held him down and slapped him. The Coward allegedly tossed the dog aside and kicked him.

As the argument continued, Coward allegedly grabbed his girlfriend and pushed her against the wall.

Responding deputies say they didn’t find the woman or the puppy to be injured.

Coward allegedly told them that he never liked the dog and that he was just disciplining it.
